Country Estate

Courtyard in Oxfordshire

This very grand space was to brought together in just 6 weeks, after a 5yr construction of the house.  We collaborated with the architect and contractors to prepare, supply and plant this complex scheme.

6 mature Cork Oaks (Quercus suber) were sourced from Spain and other trees sourced from around the UK and Europe.  The central feature of the Courtyard is an impressive limestone fountain connected by rills and pools.  The sound of water resounds around the oversized courtyard providing tranquility reminiscent of a grand Spanish Hacienda.  The courtyard connects the house centrally within the quadrangle of buildings and barns and links outwardly to other satellite gardens including a sunken olive grove, patchwork meadow and moat garden.
